It comes in waves
The tidal wave, heavy with anger, grief and sorrow.
Like a brick wall crushing an ant.
Then it dissipates, until tomorrow.
There is stillness now,
A pleasant warmth in the air.
Free from obligations, no despair.
No foreshadow of another wave, but life is unfair.
The tsunami blots out the sun,
Frozen in time and space there is nowhere to run.
The unbearable burden of the heart weeps as it's skinned through fine lacerations of memory.
Removal of bonded souls is torture with no remedy.
The stillness is now fewer and far between.
The waves are constant, but not as harsh as it would seem.
The separation of souls, almost complete, almost gone.
The heart clings to its final thread, an illusion, for a new hope, a new dawn.
